Melissa Greene, M.Ed., Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner in Pittsford NY

I am a New York State certified special education teacher (Grades 1–6) with a Master's in Elementary Education and Special Education (M.Ed.), and a passion for supporting students with reading and spelling difficulties in becoming proficient and confident readers and spellers.

With more than 10 years of experience as a special education teacher in public schools and private tutoring — including several years teaching in Massachusetts public schools as a licensed special education teacher (PreK–8) — I have supported students with mild to moderate disabilities, including language-based learning challenges such as dyslexia. All of the students I served in this capacity came to me as Tier 3 supports after receiving Tier 2 reading services, with limited response. Despite classroom instruction and targeted support, many continued to struggle to access the general curriculum. Through my certification in the Wilson Reading System (Level 1) and the Advanced Study (Level 2), I have applied the Wilson Reading System — an explicit, systematic, and multisensory approach — to provide the intensive instruction these students need to succeed.

There's nothing more rewarding than witnessing that breakthrough moment when reading finally clicks for a student. I provide one-on-one tutoring using the Wilson Reading System, with data-driven progress monitoring to ensure we're always moving forward.
